The gas pilot helps ignite the burner within the tank to heat the water. 

 

If the gas pilot won’t stay lit, that means the water won’t be able to boil and you may be experiencing cold to lukewarm water. 

 

 

4. Water doesn’t drain properly. 

 

 

Your water tank should be drained once a year to prevent the build-up of sediment. 

 

Not doing this can result in long term problems to your water tank and improper draining could be a sign of neglect. 

 

 

5. There’s rust in the water coming from your faucets or on your clothes. 

 

 

This could be a sign that it’s time to change your water tank to prevent possible water damage. 

 

 

6. No pressure on the hot side of the tank. 

 

 

There may be a pressure gauge on the side of your tank signifies the amount of hot water pressure. 

 

If the gauge reads zero, it might be time to change your water tank.
